Seriously?

OK - I expected the Oscars to not be brave enough to give a Best Picture nomination to Wall-E. That's what they have a best animated feature category for, right? But this news absolutely shocked me: Kung Fu Panda beat Wall-E at the "Annie Awards" or the Animation Field's equivilant of the Oscars.

I say again: Seriuosly?

Why the disrespect? What did little Wall-E do to all these voters? This film has already won numerous critics and film circles "Best of 2008" lists, often topping the current Best Picture nominees. It has generally been acknowledged as a major step forward in both the art of animation, as well as a major step forward for the quality of animated films.

Kung Fu Panda has Jack Black being whacky.
Now, "Kung Fu Panda" looks like it might actually steal the Oscar from "Wall-E" proving, once again, that this is simply the weirdest year for Oscar.

I. Just. Don't. Get. It.
